The “Nova” department store has four stories: one underground and three above-ground. The design challenge was to design the facility, and in particular its foundation, due to the close proximity of surrounding buildings.
The transverse stiffness of the building is provided by reinforced concrete walls in the basement and masonry walls on the above-ground stories, together with monolithic reinforced concrete slabs. Foundations in the form of a reinforced concrete foundation slab as well as pad and strip foundations. Flat reinforced concrete roof.
